27th November : Stocks On The Way Up After Award Success.
Luke Stocks spoke of his delight after being named the North East Lincolnshire Sports Personality of the Year for 2007.

The freestyle jetskier has made a splash on the national scene, winning a major British title for the second year running.
He was handed the prestigious award by last year's winner, swimmer Pete Winchester, who had flown from Thailand especially to be at the ceremony.
A large crowd gathered at the Beachcomber, Humberston, for the popular event - all eager to find out the winners of the 10 categories.
Luke (21), of Grimsby, beat off competition from veteran athlete Dennis Holt and swimmer Ruth Smith to take the top award.
He said: "I was very happy, although it was a bit of a shock.
I am proud to pick it up, especially as the other nominees were so strong.
I won the British National Championship this year, becoming the first person to win it twice.
It consisted of seven rounds at venues across the country.
I have also performed in shows at Ibiza as well as here in Cleethorpes."
Jetskiing can be a physically demanding sport and Luke spends a lot of time staying in top shape.
He explained:
"I spend a lot of time in the gym as you need strength, flexibility and co-ordination when you are doing things like back flips and barrel rolls."
Luke has drawn inspiration over the years from one of his heroes, Eric Malone.
The American is the world jetski champion and has coached Luke in the past.
Luke, who works as a kitchen designer and seller, now has big targets for 2008, including the European Championships.
"There are five rounds, which take place in Spain, Austria, Portugal, France and Belgium."
North East Lincolnshire Council, Acorn Signs and Kitchen Discount Ltd help Luke with his costs.

19th November : Police Slam Thrillseekers For Jetski Jape.
by Sonia Sharma, Evening Chronicle
An inquiry is under way after jetskiing thrill-seekers sparked a massive search operation in the North Sea.
Three lifeboats and a helicopter were scrambled after a group of people were reported to be in trouble behind the South Tyne pier, close to South Shields beach, at around 6.30pm yesterday.
Fishermen in the area rang the coastguard saying they had spotted up to five people on two jetskis near the mouth of the Tyne.
However no-one was found to be in danger. One water bike was found abandoned on the shore and another was reportedly seen heading upriver. The search was called off an hour later.
Police believe the machines may have been stolen and have launched an investigation.
Insp Graham Lockey, of South Shields police, said: “Witnesses saw individuals abandon one jetski on the shore and make good their escape on foot.
“Up to possibly two others were seen heading away on the other jetski.
“We are trying to investigate whether the jetskis were stolen. The abandoned one was a burgundy Waverunner. We would ask anyone with information about the machine or the incident to contact us.
“We also urge people not to put their own safety as well as that of others at risk in this way.
“Jetskiing is a summer sport and people should not be doing it in bad weather conditions like this. They put their own safety at risk as well as the safety of the volunteers charged with rescuing them.”
An RNLI spokesman said three lifeboats with 14 crew members were called to help.
He added: “On arriving at the scene, it was discovered the surf was too severe to conduct an effective search and Tynemouth RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was launched in support, together with the fast Atlantic 85 class inshore lifeboat from Cullercoats as back-up.
“The lifeboat crews and a shore-based coastguard team conducted extensive searches, discovering an abandoned jetski on South Shields beach. Another jetski was seen leaving the area and heading upriver.
“The search continued in case some of the jetskiers were in the water and the police helicopter joined the search.
“No-one was found and the search called off after an hour, with ground-based police continuing inquiries.
“We always take reports of people in difficulty very seriously so a thorough search of the area was carried out by the three lifeboats, but it seems as if everyone on the jetskis had left the area, abandoning one jetski.
“When Humber Coastguard was satisfied no-one was in any danger, the search was called off.
“The RNLI strongly advises against anyone using a jetski in poor sea and weather conditions such as those we found, particularly in the dark.”
Anyone with information should ring South Shields police on 08456 043 043.

18th November : Warning Over Jet Skiers.
Stuart Arnold Writes.
COASTGUARD volunteers called off a search for 'missing' jet skiers after reports four people were in difficulty.
Tynemouth RNLI's inshore lifeboat was launched at 6.30pm on Sunday night after a call from anglers that four people were in trouble on two jet skis near South Shields beach, behind the south Tyne pier.
However the surf was too severe to conduct an effective search and Tynemouth RNLI's all weather lifeboat was launched in support.
The lifeboat crews carried out extensive searches, later discovering an abandoned jet ski on South Shields beach.
Another jet ski was seen leaving the area and heading up river.
The search continued in case some of the jet skiers were in the water and the Northumbria police helicopter joined the search.
But no-one was found and the search was called off after an hour, with ground-based police continuing enquiries.
An RNLI spokesman said: "We always take reports of people in difficulty very seriously so a thorough search of the area was carried out by the three lifeboats, but it seems as if everyone on the jet skis had left the area, abandoning one jet ski.
"When Humber Coastguard Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre was satisfied no-one was in any danger, the search was called off.
"The RNLI strongly advises against anyone using a jet ski in poor sea and weather conditions such as those we found tonight, particularly in the dark."

18th November : Sea Search Turns To Theft Probe.
A search prompted by reports of two water bikers encountering problems in the North Sea has been called off.
Three lifeboats and a helicopter were scrambled after the pair were spotted behind the South Tyne pier close to South Shields beach.
One water bike was subsequently found abandoned on the shore and another was reportedly seen heading upriver.
Police say they now believe the machines were stolen and have launched an investigation.
The lifeboats, along with the police helicopter, were launched from Tynemouth at 1830 GMT but the sea search was called off an hour later.
'Thorough search'
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said the force had initially received reports of four people missing, but now believed only two men were involved.
She said: "An area search was made and no one recovered. A witness said they had seen both witnesses make off on one jetski and leave one behind.
"At the moment we are not looking for anyone missing. There is the possibility the jetski was stolen."
An RNLI spokesman said: "When our inshore lifeboat arrived at the scene the surf was too strong to carry out an effective search so our all weather lifeboat was launched.
"We always take reports of people in difficulty very seriously so a thorough search of the area was carried out by the three lifeboats."

17th November : Record Breaker.
Alan Pickard of Sheffield Personal Watercraft Dealership ‘Jetshed’ claimed a new National and World Speed Record during the recently held 38th annual Power Boat Records Week.

Traditionally an end of season bash, the PBRW is one of the only events that bring together such a large variety of powered craft.
Organised by the Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club, the event is open to hydroplanes, inshore racers and the largest offshore powerboats.
Officials, Competitors and their friends and families travel from across the country for a week of record-breaking attempts surrounded by the areas stunning mountain scenery.
The week (5th - 9th November) saw conditions usually associated with surf riding as heavy winds whipped up the lake.
This wasn’t going to put Alan off as he joined over 100 entrants to take on the kilometre course.
Two passes are made of the course, north to south and then south to north and an average speed from the two is calculated.
Alan was aboard a race prepared Kawasaki STX15F with further pump modifications to suit the conditions and make good speed on rough water.
The hydroplanes were prevented from running in the extreme conditions and Alan could see why.
During his first leg he found he had to apply lots of lock to the bars just to maintain a straight line.
With a speed of 81.759 unlike the majority of competitors he made a fast turnaround and headed back.
On the return leg conditions were much worse and a slower speed of 78.461 was recorded.
The average speed was calculated to be 80.11mph and worthy of the record in the Runabout 1200 Superstock class.
Alan certainly opened a few eyes with a recorded speed right up there with some much larger craft.
Well Done!

3rd November : Southend Watercraft Club.
Based on the South coast in Essex, Southend Watercraft Club are please to announce their formation.
After a successful meeting with the PLA, foreshore Marine Police and Southend council, we are pleased to publicise that we have been granted their full support and backing.
We aspire our club to move forward and aim is to be the largest in the country.
The Essex coastline has a lot to offer watercraft users, our first rule must always be safety.
With the implementation of regulations and bylaws we endeavor to make it safe for all our club members, yet family and fun come a very close second.
We will be organising trips and Charity Fund Raising Events to name but a few, for all age groups.
All our members are required to have a valid insurance certificate and the vessel will need to be datataged. This can and will be validated on site if the need arises, giving other members the security in the water.
As an extra safety measure some of our members have taken an RYA course to offer other members advice and support both on and off the water.
After talks with the local authorities we may well be in a position to offer PWC courses to other club members to be held locally, but this is to be advised.
VHF radios have been introduced and are carried on the water by members the benefits are.
To let other watercraft know where we are.
We use them to communicate instructor to instructor.
In case of breakdowns at sea, calling for emergency services and local authorise.
To communicate with large vessels to advise them we are in the water along with other PWC.
Listening for changes in the weather and navigational warnings, these are broadcast every 4 hours.
VHF radios are far more dependable than mobile phones off shore.
VHF radios use marine frequencies so any other watercraft will be able to assist you sooner should the need arise.
Memberships are now available and will run until march 09 at a reduced rate, as well as discounts at a range of local businesses dealing with the club.
There is an informative forum for all to view giving details on meetings, fun days or if you need help with your craft.
We look forward to seeing you at the Ness Road slipway in the not to distant future.
