February : Jetski Death Trial Adjourned
Again. |
| The trial of
two men charged over the death of a schoolgirl in a jet-ski accident
in Cyprus was adjourned yesterday.
|
| Hannah Sutton,
16, was killed when her boyfriend James Dudley, also 16, crashed into
her while they both rode jet-skis at the resort of Pissouri in Cyprus
in summer 2005.
|
| Hannah, from
Alderley Edge, Cheshire, died from massive head injuries.
|
| She had just
finished her GCSE exams at the private Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn
Bay, where James was also a pupil.
|
| Christakis
Ioannou, 46, and Aristos Ioannou, 30, appeared at Limassol District
Court to face charges over her death.
|
| But after
proceedings were begun, the judge ordered the conclusion of the trial
be adjourned until March 15, at the same court in Limassol.
|

A selection of Seadoo
personal watercraft (PWC) from the 2007 range will be on display at
this year’s National Boat, Caravan & Outdoor Show.

will showcase the 2007 GTX 4-TEC Limited model on stand 5626 at the
Show.

The 215hp GTX 4-TEC Limited
features a luxurious new touring seat and new metallic cosmo blue
colour scheme, adding to the rider’s comfort and overall head

The Limited seats up to 3
people. It also boasts BRP’s new ‘Flow Thru’ upper deck design,
which allows air to pass through the hood rather than over it, making

February : Jetski Charity Challenge. |
| Justin Humphrey will be
aiming to leave the beach at Frinton on Sea in Essex at 2.00pm on
Saturday 14th July 2007 in a bid to circumnavigate the British Isles
by Jetski.
|
| From Frinton on Sea,
Justin, in his 40th year, has decided that he would like to try
something a little more challenging than life itself.
|
| Whilst doing so, he thought
that others may benefit at the same time.
|
| Not having visited much of
his own country, Justin is keen to meet people from all over the
island, as well as view some of the wonderful coast line that we all
must take for granted, and rarely see and experience oursleves.
|
| This journey, will be
hugging the coast of the British Isles (England, Scotland and Wales).
The estimated distance is around 2200 miles.
|
| The target is to complete
the journey in 14 days, beginning on Frinton beach on 14th July,
returning on the 28th.
|
| Throughout the journey,
Justin will be beaching twice a day at various locations, where he
would like to meet any supporters, and if possible collect funds for
the charities that he is supporting.
|
| Justin will start intense
training, once the weather gets above freezing, in order to be
completely comfortable physically.
|
| A personal trainer will be
recruited for focused training for the appropriate parts!
|
| Mentally, he says, the job
is already done!
|
| As far as safety is
concerned, Justin will undertake training in chart reading, radio use
and first aid.
|
| Nothing will be left to too
much risk.
|
| Though he would never
consider this trip with on-water support, saying,
|
| "What's the point in
that? What, then, is the challenge?"

February : Sports Boat And RIB
Show. |
| The 2007
Southampton Sports Boat and RIB Show will take place from 05 to 07 May
at Hamble Point Marina on the River Hamble.
|
| The original
venue at Ocean Village Marina is undergoing work for a hotel
development, but the new location should prove just as successful.
|
| The three-day
event, which runs over the May bank holiday weekend, will be the
fourth annual Sports Boat and RIB Show.
|
|
As in 2006, the show will
provide attractions for adults and children, with exhibits,
competitions, demonstrations and a huge range of sports boats and RIBs
on display in the marina.
|
|
But this year the new
location provides the added bonus of the Hamble Point Used Boat Show,
which is happening over the same weekend.
|
|
That means access not only to
a selection of new sports boats and RIBs, but also to a vast number of
pre-owned boats.

February : JSRA Brings Racing
Back To Grass Roots. |
| The Jet Sport
Racing Association (JSRA) have announced a recreational Club Racing
day aimed at regenerating interest in the sport from the British
Scene.
|
| There will
four of these days organised as part of a series, designed to give new
riders, families and juniors a true taste of Jet Sport racing and show
just how accessible and exciting it can be!
|
| The first of
this four part series will be held at Billing Aquadrome, Northampton
on Saturday 7 April 2007 and is open to anybody with their own
personal watercraft.
|
|
Jeremy Hoyland, Vice
Chairperson of the JSRA, explained: “Cheap competitive fun is the
primary focus of the day!”
|
|
People are encouraged to
enter with stock skis, from entry-level to muscle-craft, but only
minor modifications are allowed and all race skis are banned.
|
|
The first lap of the day will
run against a stopwatch which will determine appropriate speed
categories for the day. And there will be two overall classes: Adult
and Junior.
|
|
The race course will be a
basic course for the day and only a maximum of 5 skis will race at any
one time to ensure the safety of the riders at all times. Ambulance
and Safety Crews will also be on hand throughout the whole series
|
|
One other lake is still to be
confirmed as a host, along with Billing in the near future!
