23rd November : Police Trace Jetski Theft Gang.
Officers believe thieves who stole £200,000 worth of boats and jet skis may be trying to smuggle the haul out of the country.

The gang of seven stole the boats from Russell Watersports in Eversley, Hampshire, escaping in a BMW and two stolen Ford vans.
They used trailers to tow the craft away in the early hours of 17 November. Police are extending their appeal countrywide, asking anyone who comes across the craft to contact them.
One of the items was a blue and white 'Sea-Doo 200 Speedster' worth £27,000 and one of only five of its type in the country.
The thieves, who were spotted on CCTV, also took 15 jet skis.
All of the craft belonged to customers who were storing them at the boatyard.
Items of clothing and buoyancy aids were also taken along with the keys to about fifty jet skis.

18th November : Motor Meets Marine.
Picture the scene – some of the world’s most prolific motor sport giants gathered in Ibiza to battle it out on the water for the title of king of kings.

The result was 2 days of non-stop adrenaline fuelled performances both on and off the water.
Jets Marivent and BRP Europe collaborated with Red Bull and foundation Wings for Life to put on the incredible event on the 1st and 2nd November. Under the direction of Heinz Kinigadner, professional racers from Formula 1, Moto GP, Motocross and Rally World put their riding skills to the test, but this time on water.
The 7 teams comprised some of the world’s leading riders such as Nani Roma, Dakar Rally winner, Max Biaggi, Moto GP World Champion, Mattias Ekström, DTM Champion, Yves Demaria, 2004 MX3 World Motocross Champion, Adam Raga, Marc Coma and special guest Niki Lauder.
Over the two days, the riders demonstrated their skills not only on ATVs, hovercrafts and offroad buggies, but on a number of BRP PWCs, including the new SeaDoo® 3D with its three different riding positions.
Competition was fierce, but it was World Motocross Champion, Yves Demaria who delivered the most impressive performance, mastering all the unfamiliar craft with incredible ease and taking home the title.
The event was held to raise money for the Wings for Life Foundation, which runs and supports research in the field of the central nervous system. The foundation was created after the tragic accident of Hannes Kinigadner (son of two-time Motocross World Champion, Heinz Kinigadner) in which he suffered severe spinal injuries.

13th November : JSRA Leg Protection Update.

FULL LEG PROTECTION FOR RUNABOUT RIDERS WILL BE COMPULSORY FOR 2005.

www.jsra.co.uk

In 2004 the wearing of full leg protectors in the European Championships were made compulsory for all Runabout riders.

After assessing the positive feedback from UK riders competing at European level it has been agreed that full leg protection will also be made compulsory in the UK from January 1st.

This means you will not be able to compete in a JSRA sanctioned closed course event unless you have the correct safety gear.

We believe this is an important safety update, which comes with the increased numbers on the line and the speed of skis.

Currently the type of leg protectors being used in Europe are manufactured by a French company, however the JSRA have agreed with this company to buy a bulk order.

The full leg protectors incorporates padded protection for the entire leg so lower leg protectors are no longer necessary. For those of you who aren’t familiar with these protectors Jeremy Hoyland will be modelling a pair at the AGM on the 20th of November.

At this moment in time these are the only full leg protectors that the JSRA recognise so please don’t got out and purchase anything until you have checked with Dr Jolley’s that they are suitable.

The protectors will cost £125.00 and must be ordered by the 26th of November if you want the JSRA to organise the buying and shipping of them for you.

Otherwise, you will need to contact the company direct via email to audreydujardin@aol.com. But please remember if you want to compete at the first round of the winter series you must have a set of full leg protectors.

There will be no exceptions!!

10th November : Record Breaking Seadoo Dealer Conference.
Jets Marivent, the sole UK and Eire distributor of Bombardier Recreational Products has held its most successful annual Seadoo® PWC and Sportsboat Dealer meeting to date.
The conference took place in Castelldefels, Barcelona at the end of last month and saw an unprecedented number of dealers in attendance. Jets Marivent took the opportunity to brief its dealers on a wide range of topics including the 2005 product range, Sales and Marketing, Parts and Accessories as well as a review of the growth and performance of the company over the last 12 months.
The conference also offered Jets Marivent the opportunity to recognise those dealers who have performed particularly well over the past 12 months.

The award categories included, Best PWC sales, Best SportsBoat Sales, Best Marketing, Best Administration, Best After Sales Service and of course the Dealer of the Year Award, which this year was won by Robert Owen Marine.
